What Leuven drank in 1851, we pour again today.
Leuven wheat beer. Heritage in a new label.
reborn by chance, driven by passion
Wheat beer, an accidental comeback.
Etikett* was born out of fascination. A fascination for a forgotten beer story, for craftsmanship, and for the kind of chance that emerges when passion is given space. What began as a search for La Vignette evolved into a contemporary beer story that honours the past while looking ahead.
Behind Etikett* stands designer Kevin Celis. Like his namesake Pierre Celis, he breathes new life into an iconic wheat beer — not as a copy, but as a reinterpretation. With attention to flavour, context and character.
Recipe by Jeroen Meus
A medley of wheat beer, celeriac, hake and mussels.
On November 30, 2022, TV chef Jeroen Meus took a bottle of what was then still my home-brewed beer from the fridge on the VRT programme Dagelijkse Kost and turned it into a velvety smooth soup. Let yourself be enchanted and relive this magical moment. Thank you, Jerre!

The story of Etikett*
Start at the forgotten brewery La Vignette
Kevin Celis who had gone to live in Leuven
Could clone the forgotten recipe again
What started with a few crowns
Led from hobby to positive phlegmons
Jeroen Meus couldn't resist
And appeared on VRT with some quotes
The beer was then discussed in all the streets
Soon many barrels followed
No 'La Vignette' because the name had already been registered
So Etikett* was quickly addressed
